Banks, credit unions and regulation in Ireland

Ireland's financial system includes banks, credit unions, payment institutions and other providers. The Central Bank of Ireland maintains registers of regulated firms and carries out national oversight; significant euro-area banks also fall under direct ECB supervision. Ireland uses the euro.

The Irish Deposit Guarantee Scheme (DGS) covers eligible deposits with banks, building societies and credit unions authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland. Where a bank is authorised in another European Economic Area country, the guarantee scheme of that country generally applies. NEXVORO lists Irish financial institutions, but individual product offers have not yet been published for Ireland.
