Japanese banks, licensing and deposit insurance
Japan's banking market includes major city banks, regional banks, trust banks and cooperative financial institutions. The Financial Services Agency (FSA) publishes lists of licensed and registered businesses. The country's currency is the Japanese yen (JPY).
Japan's deposit insurance framework distinguishes qualifying payment and settlement deposits from ordinary interest-bearing deposits. The protection rules and coverage limits are not the same for these categories, and some institutions or products may be subject to different arrangements. NEXVORO currently lists institutions in Japan without publishing a separate range of individual financial product offers.
