Marshall Islands

The Marshall Islands uses the US dollar and has a relatively small banking sector. Check access to transfers and actual banking permissions.

Banking and payments in the Marshall Islands

The Republic of the Marshall Islands uses the US dollar (USD) rather than operating a separate national currency. Its domestic banking market is small, and access to international payments depends in part on correspondent banking relationships. The International Monetary Fund has highlighted the importance of those links for a country with limited financial infrastructure. A local USD account should therefore not be assumed to offer the same transfer routes, speed or availability as an account at a US bank.

Banking is subject to the country's banking laws and financial oversight arrangements. The presence of a Marshall Islands-registered company in an international corporate register is a different matter from being authorised to accept public deposits. The existence of a company or service provider should never be presented as a banking licence or a promise of deposit protection. NEXVORO lists three organisations associated with the Marshall Islands in its current published catalogue, but no individual product offers.
