Seychelles

Seychelles assigns banks and many non-bank financial activities to different supervisors. Learn how to check a firm's actual authorisation.

Seychelles banking and non-bank financial supervision

The Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) supervises banks, payment systems and other financial institutions within its mandate. A separate Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulates non-bank fields including fiduciary services and capital markets, alongside aspects of international business. Registering an international company in Seychelles is not the same as holding permission to accept bank deposits or provide regulated investment services. Customers should identify the activity before checking the regulator.

The Seychelles rupee (SCR) is the national currency, while cross-border payments and some financial relationships may involve foreign currencies. The practical choices for residents, travellers and overseas clients differ, especially for payments and currency conversion. Claims that a firm is licensed, that an investment is guaranteed or that digital asset services are authorised need to be assessed under the relevant licence category rather than the existence of a local company certificate.
