Spain

Spain has domestic banks and branches of institutions from across Europe. Understand their supervision, deposit cover and the information needed to assess a loan.

How banking operates in Spain

Spain belongs to the euro area, and its banks fall under the Single Supervisory Mechanism led by the ECB with the participation of Banco de España. The market includes major banking groups, smaller institutions and foreign bank branches. The euro is the domestic currency.

The Spanish Deposit Guarantee Fund (FGD) protects eligible deposits at participating institutions. Deposits at a Spanish branch of a bank authorised elsewhere in the EU are generally covered by that bank's home-country scheme. NEXVORO currently provides institution entries for Spain rather than published product-by-product offers.
